This anime is one that I believe a lot of people will know. It is a bit of a harem anime (though I never saw it as one). What interested me the most with this anime is that it has mystery, love, humour and magic (plus I really identified with the main character Tooru).
If you are unfamiliar with Chinese Astrology, get ready to learn about with this popular anime….I am talking of course about;
Fruits basket is the first anime I ever owned on dvd, which is probably why I am a bit biased. The story attracted me a lot because when I was a teen I was very interested in feng shui and the Chinese zodiac (now that I am older that totally disappeared though).
Fruits Basket is about a girl (no parents) who you think is a normal school going teen.
Though what nobody knows is that she actually lives in a tent in the woods because her grandfather is renovating his house and she doesn’t want to burden him (or the rest of her aweful family).
Tooru comes back from work one day to find her tent being covered wih dirt and rocks by a landslide. She is found by Yuki (one of her schoolmates) and his cousin Shigure. They decide to take her in into their home, where she can stay for as long as needed.
But the Sohma family hold a deep dark secret.
Whenever they are hugged by someone of the opposite sex… that person transforms into one of the zodiac signs (including the 13th zodiac sign, the cat!)
Bonus, when they transform back after a while there is one small detail to keep in mind.
The story follows Tooru’s life during the time she lives with the Sohmas. She meets most of the family members (mainly those who are cursed) and tries to help them resolve the curse.
You’ll find romance in the story as well, mostly between Tooru, Yuki (rat zodiac) and Kyo (cat zodiac).
Who she ends up with? Well that you’ll have to see for yourself.
This series was something truly fun to watch. So many jokes, so much suspense and love. A show I think is definitely worth to watch.
Also…high school girls.
So here you have my nr. 6 on my favourite Anime list!
Hope you enjoyed, take care and have a nice day!
